Oh boy,the first month of the new year is almost over and I haven’t even written you once. Shame on me! I so hope you all had wonderful holidays and had a great start into 2015. I sure had. After all this is our best year yet, am I right?
Well, before I dive into what I’m into right now, I wanted to share an amazing book with you today, that my kind neighbour, Pearl Mac Kay, lent me the other day. She went to Newfoundland a couple years back and brought this book with her and I couldn’t believe my eyes when she showed it to me.
Jean Claude Roy is one of my favourite painters, although I encountered his artwork only a few years back. But like it is with some people or their art, when you see them it feels like you knew them all along. Like an old friend you haven’t seen in a very long time.
Well, this is what his paintings do to me, they put me in awe. His artwork, all paintings of his beloved Newfoundland is a declaration of love to this tiny, rugged part of the world, where the elements rule.
If you ever had the chance, please check out his book, or even better, see him or his amazing artwork. It speaks to you in its very own loud and powerful quietude.
