Today I simply want to share a moment of relief for Emily, her teacher Mrs. Weber, and also her parents and singing dog “Dr. Watson,” as Emily did her Royal Conservatory grade 9 piano exam yesterday after only four and a half months of study instead of the recommended two years. With tremendous work, determination and concentration she made it possible. As if the short duration wasn’t pressure enough, she also chose to schedule her grade 5 violin exam on the same day and from what we overheard behind closed doors she mastered both exams with bravura, although we likely won’t have the official results before the end of July.
As parents who rarely give themselves much credit for their achievements, we are trying this year to learn to celebrate all the little things that come our way and therefore shout out: Well done, Emmi! We are proud of you!
Next stop: school exams. But how hard could that be?
